We are looking for a reliable, hardworking person to join our team! This position is responsible for performing custodial duties on the properties of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.
This is a wage position limited to 1,500 hours per year (which equates to approximately 29 hours or less per week) with no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications · Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to read and follow oral and written instructions. · Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks. · Demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects; standing for long periods; and to do manual labor. Individual must be able to lift more than 50 pounds.
· Previously demonstrated knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning chemicals, equipment and supplies and of safety practices related to this area of work is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
This is a weekend position and will generally be scheduled on Friday – Monday on a weekly basis. Shifts are usually between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Special Requirements
All full-time and part-time salaried employees of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation are required to complete and sign an application form. All Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application. These documents require that an employee or volunteer certify that they have never been convicted of any kind of violation. This goes beyond VA code §22.1-296.1-C which states: “that (i) he has not been convicted of a felony or offense involving the sexual abuse or physical or sexual abuse or rape of a child; and (ii) whether he has been convicted of a crime of moral disgrace.” In addition, the Foundation will conduct both name and genealogy background checks through the Virginia State Police of all paid and core volunteers and the contractor will (i) keep all employee certifications on file, (ii) require an employee to obtain the certification of update the employee if the employee is later convicted of a reportable offense and (iii) will make these certifications available for inspection upon request.” Foundation employees must also be eligible to work with the E-Verify system through the United States Department of Homeland Security.
